About the Author

Kris is a graphic designer, author, and illustrator of multiple picture books, a young adult novel series and is currently working on a modern crime fiction novel. She enjoyed substitute teaching for more than ten years in Virginia, Colorado, and Iowa. Originally from Illinois, she and her husband Mike moved coast to coast and a few states in between while he was in the military, then an analyst. After eight years in colorful Colorado, they followed their youngest to Iowa State University in amiable Ames, where Mike taught for nine years, including summer abroad classes in Europe, giving Kris the dream opportunity to wander, photograph and write. They just moved to Manhattan, Kansas, where Mike will teach at Kansas State as they build a mountain home in Monument, Colorado. They are owned by a herd of cats and dogs and enjoy visits with their three dashing sons, two amazing daughters-in-law, two darling grandsons, and fabulous friends near and far. Diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2001 and a benign brain tumor in 2022, Kris advocates early detection, aggressive treatment, and thriving happily ever after.
